Many factors contribute to allergies in our environment
including parasites (fleas), food, and grasses or weeds. If your
pets show signs of itching, redness, areas with infected sores,
or patches of hair loss make sure you call for an appointment so
treatment can be started soon.
Not all allergies are seen on the skin. Cats and dogs can have
one or all of these types:
Food allergies
which are exhibited as upset stomachs soon after eating or
whelps all over the skin.
Respiratory allergies
which are exhibited as coughing or hacking.
Insect
allergies
which are exhibited as severe reactions at the site of the bite
and can last for days.
Contact allergies
which are exhibited as redness and swollen areas at the feet,
belly, or muzzle at the points of contact with the irritant.
